Lauren Sanders (She, Her)

Lauren Sanders received her Master’s of Science in Child Development from the University of Alabama and Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling at Georgia State University. She received her Bachelor’s of Art in Psychology from the University of Georgia.  Lauren is a LPC licensed in the state of Georgia, is a Nationally Certified Counselor, and holds her CPCS (Certified Professional Counseling Supervisor) in the state of Georgia.  Lauren currently supervises associate professional counselors.  She has intensive training in pediatric exposure response prevention from the International OCD Foundation. 

Lauren treats people of all ages with expertise in several areas of common psychologic stressors that cross the age continuum including anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, chronic illness, grief, and coping with life changes.

 

She works with people across the lifespan to optimize their potential.  This includes children struggling with ADHD, anxiety, perfectionistic traits, OCD, and other things that may impact a child’s home or school life.  Lauren also works with parents to help them best understand, support, and react to their child in a positive way. 

 

Lauren has been able to translate her experience in Child Life to help children and adults cope with their own illness as well as helping their loved ones understand and cope with chronic illness.  She is able to work empathetically with anticipatory grief, complex grief, and children of all ages as they cope with loss.

 

Lauren works from a solution-focused model, as well as cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure response prevention therapy (ERP), play therapy, and strengths-based psychology while supporting each client to find ways to cope and adjust.  With her years of experience and her compassionate approach, she is ready to help you, or your child reach their full potential by gaining perspective, embracing healthy change, and learning to cope with the anxiety life generates in these uncertain times.
