OCD Therapy & Treatment in Marietta, Roswell, and Atlanta

Break free from the cycle of obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. Evidence-based treatment that helps you reclaim your life from OCD.

Understanding OCD

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a chronic condition characterized by intrusive, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) performed to reduce anxiety. OCD is not about being neat or organized—it's a serious anxiety disorder that can be debilitating without proper treatment.

Obsessions are persistent, distressing thoughts, images, or urges that cause significant anxiety. Common themes include contamination fears, harm concerns, need for symmetry, taboo thoughts, or doubts. Compulsions are repetitive behaviors (like checking, washing, counting) or mental rituals (like praying, reviewing, mental checking) performed to neutralize obsessions or prevent feared outcomes.

The OCD cycle is exhausting: an intrusive thought triggers intense anxiety, you perform a compulsion to get relief, you feel briefly better, but the cycle reinforces itself and grows stronger. Professional treatment can break this cycle and help you regain control of your life.

Not sure whether OCD is what's driving your symptoms? Dr. Alex Crenshaw offers formal OCD testing and evaluation for adults at our Roswell office. See all psychological testing options.

Our Treatment Approach

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

The gold-standard treatment for OCD. ERP gradually exposes you to feared situations while preventing compulsive responses, helping your brain learn that anxiety naturally decreases without rituals.

Cognitive Therapy

Address the thought patterns that fuel OCD. Learn to recognize cognitive distortions, reduce thought-action fusion, and develop healthier responses to intrusive thoughts.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Learn to accept intrusive thoughts without engaging with them. Develop psychological flexibility and refocus on living according to your values rather than OCD demands.
