Counseling Intern

Jennifer is a bilingual clinical counseling intern at Peachtree Psychology.  She is working towards obtaining her Master’s degree in professional counseling from Georgia State University. Jennifer is devoted to creating a positive impact by helping individuals become aware of their potential, develop healthy coping skills, increase self-awareness, foster resiliency, and promote personal development. 

Jennifer believes the most important factor for experiencing true transformational growth is by developing a strong therapeutic relationship with the client. She utilizes the approach that best fits the client’s needs, in order to meet them where they are. She stands by the concept that the client is the expert of themselves, while clinician is the expert of the technique. Jennifer has been trained in a variety of approaches, including solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based approach, dialectical behavioral therapy, and goal-oriented frameworks. 

Her primary goal is to treat children, adolescents, and young adults. To further expand her knowledge, she has completed supplemental trainings that are essential for child and adolescent development. These include play therapy, adventure therapy, narrative exposure therapy, applied suicide intervention skills training, and mindfulness-based stress reduction training. She believes in creating a judgment-free, open, and culturally sensitive environment.

Jennifer also has a background of with working with victims of sex trafficking and Latino children affected by violence in the home. She is the founder of the Coffee + Coat Project, a community outreach organization focused on providing to those experiencing homelessness in Atlanta; As well as, Hack My Potential, a strengths-based coaching agency with a mission to help individuals develop their natural talents and accompany them along the journey of personal development. She received a coaching certification from Gallup in 2017 and is also available for coaching. With a passion for guiding and mentoring youth, she has facilitated speaking engagements at schools, such as Mill Springs Academy, in hopes to inspire the next generation.
